Hana Securities announced on the 23rd that it obtained approval from the Ministry of Finance and Economy for general currency exchange operations.
The license enables Hana Securities to offer general currency exchange services to individual clients seeking foreign currency for overseas travel, study abroad, and remittances. The company said customer convenience has been significantly enhanced as it can now provide integrated foreign currency asset management, covering both investment-purpose and general-purpose currency exchanges.
The Ministry of Finance and Economy had previously revised its foreign exchange transaction regulations to allow securities firms meeting certain requirements to conduct general currency exchanges beyond investment purposes. In response, Hana Securities built internal control organizations and IT infrastructure to comply with the amended regulations.
Hana Securities also plans to expand its services beyond general currency exchange by linking with various digital assets, including Hana Money. The firm aims to differentiate its customer experience by simultaneously improving the efficiency and accessibility of foreign currency asset management.
“With this general currency exchange license, our customers can now perform various currency exchange transactions at Hana Securities,” said Kim Jung-hyun, head of the Wealth Management Sales Division at Hana Securities. “We will continue to provide diverse financial services that enhance customer convenience.”
