M. Suzanne Nussear. 83

Sue, 83, passed away June 19, 2023, at Northern Nevada Medical Center in Sparks, Nev. Born on April 26, 1940, in Hackensack, N.J., to Germaine and Maurice Garin.

Through the early years, she lived in Saddle River, Allendale and Ramsey, N.J.

She graduated from Ramsey High School in Ramsey, N.J., and was initially employed for several years as an X-Ray Technician and Laboratory Quality Control Technician.

Sue married Nov. 9, 1963, to Dave Nussear (a 60+ year partnership in everything) and moved to Norfolk, Va., where Dave was in the Navy. After Naval service, they moved with their firstborn son, Kenneth, to Globe, Ariz., and where their second son, Kevin, was born. Next, in Apache Junction, Ariz., Sue volunteered with Girl Scouts and Junior Miss. Sue and Dave hosted their first Foreign Exchange Student from Chile. They then moved to Albuquerque, N.M. Sue coached a winning Youth Soccer Team. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed taking care of ducks, geese, horses, cats and dogs. They hosted three Foreign Exchange Students from Europe and also hosted performers from “Up with People”.

Sue volunteered as a “Band Mom” for the Cibola High School Band and All Faiths Home for Women in Albuquerque, N.M. In 1986, they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Sue worked at North Idaho College in the Testing Area and also with Hecla Mining Co., in the company mail room and front switchboard. They volunteered together throughout the years with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church – the church youth group, Ironman Races, CDA High Soccer, and the Chamber of Commerce, Supported, and coached the Junior Miss Program, a local theatre, and for many years, at the North Idaho Fair & Rodeo. They hosted four additional Foreign Exchange Students from Europe while in CDA. While volunteering, Sue and Dave were honored in 2015 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Fairs & Rodeo for volunteer work, and again in 2021, by the North Idaho Fair & Rodeo Foundation with the “Clyde Boatright Award”.

All throughout the years, they enjoyed travel throughout the USA, as well as Egypt, Germany, France, Italy, Fiji, Mexico and Canada. Over the years together, Sue and Dave enjoyed meeting wonderful people from all over the United States and around the world.

Surviving Sue is her husband – Dave, sons Kenneth (and wife Karen) and Kevin (and wife Kimberley). Granddaughter – Niquel and Nussear family brothers, sister, nieces and nephews from the USA and Canada.

A “Celebration of Sue’s Life” will be held at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds on July 29 for friends and family.
