By India Today News Desk: Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh was raising his own army — Amritpal Tiger Force — along with Anandpur Khalsa Fauj, said SSP Amneet Kaundal of Khanna Police in an exclusive interview with India Today.
Amritpal Singh, the Waris Punjab De chief, had also designed and printed the currency of Khalistan, for which he was driving a movement. The currency, copied from the dollar, also had a map of Khalistan printed on it.
In an exclusive interview with India Today, Khanna Police SSP said that Amritpal Singh had also chosen the states and had designed the flag for Khalistan. Kapurthala, Patiala, and Jind were among the areas included in Amritpal Singh’s Khalistan.
The members of the Anandpur Khalsa Force (AKF) and Amritpal Tiger Force were given AKF numbers under the belt name in the same way that numbers are given to soldiers in a regiment. These people had AKF tattoos on their arms.
Only youths were to be recruited in Amritpal Tiger Force, said the SSP.
Police have found evidence from Amritpal’s close aide Tejinder alias Gorkha Baba’s phone, including chats and audio recordings, to confirm the revelations.
The police official also said Amritpal Singh was in contact with several countries to create Khalistan and that the ISI was helping him.
Amritpal Singh is still on the run even as the massive manhunt by the Punjab Police to nab him entered the seventh day on Friday. Nepal border posts are on alert after intelligence agencies reported that the Khalistani leader might escape through Nepal.
Haryana Police on Thursday arrested a woman who allegedly harboured Amritpal Singh and his associate Papalpreet Singh at her home in Kurukshetra district. So far, 207 people have been detained by police in connection with the Amritpal Singh case.
