Bengaluru: Nearly 9.4kg of gold worth Rs 6.6 crore and Rs 1.6 crore in foreign currency were seized from multiple passengers arriving at and departing from Kempegowda International Airport between July 9 and 15The passengers were arriving from Sharjah, Dubai, Sri Lanka, Bahrain and Colombo. Andhra Pradesh, who arrived from Sharjah, was found wearing a sanitary pad with a white rectangular pouch containing gold in semi-solid paste form. Two gold chains were hidden inside her bra and two nuggets were concealed within a refurbished Apple AirPod charger. In all, she was carrying 698 grams of gold, valued at Rs 49.2 lakh.Miya Mohammed Sayeed, a resident of NG Palya, Bengaluru, was caught attempting to smuggle foreign currency on Thai Lion Air flight SL-217 to Bangkok. Sayeed had concealed foreign currency worth Rs 59.5 lakh in the hollow pipes of a black trolley handle. Mohamedali Jinnah Ameer from Pudukottai in Tamil Nadu was intercepted while travelling to Singapore. He was found carrying foreign currency worth Rs 6.2 lakh, hidden in his hand luggage. It included 7,000 Euros, 80 Singapore dollars, and 50 Sri Lankan rupees.
