The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has introduced a new facility to enhance passenger services at Islamabad International Airport with the launch of a currency exchange counter in the international arrivals lounge.
The facility was formally inaugurated by Director Commercial Rabia Salma in the presence of the airport manager and members of the commercial team.
According to PAA officials, the new counter will allow passengers arriving from abroad to exchange foreign currency immediately upon arrival, enabling them to obtain local currency without leaving the airport.
Officials said the initiative aims to provide greater convenience for travellers by eliminating the need to search for currency exchange services outside the airport.
Earlier, Islamabad International Airport was awarded a 3-star rating by the global airport ranking organization Skytrax. With this recognition, the airport became Pakistan’s first facility to achieve a 3-star ranking.
The rating was granted after assessing several factors, including passenger amenities and airport management standards. In the same ranking, Dubai International Airport was also classified as a 3-star airport, while Allama Iqbal International Airport and Jinnah International Airport retained their 2-star ratings.
Officials said the achievement reflects Islamabad airport’s continued improvements in services and facilities for air travellers.
