LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A week after a devastating fire forced the closure of Raw Remedies and The Analog Dope Store, the businesses’ owner, Bobbie Mullins, is getting a boost from fellow downtown business owners as she works to rebuild.
The Foreign Exchange Lounge is hosting a fundraiser for Mullins from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with all proceeds going to her.
Mullins has owned Raw Remedies and The Analog Dope Store in the Arts District for 16 years and is also known as a community activist.
“When I saw it on the news, I was like, ‘ugh,’ I was devastated for her,” said Robert Taylor, owner of the Foreign Exchange Lounge.
Taylor said he understands what Mullins is facing because his photography studio burned down 10 years ago.
“Imagine watching your business burn down to where it’s too late,” Taylor said.
Taylor said the impact of a fire goes beyond the owner, affecting employees who depend on the business for work.
“If we go out of business, automatically, that’s five people here, ten here, fifteen here who get laid off. Just right now while her business is shut down, it’s multiple people right now who don’t have a job because her business burnt down,” Taylor said.
Local businesses rally to help Arts District business owner rebuild after fire
Taylor said Mullins is resilient and that community support can help her recover.
“The downtown environment is like a family environment,” he said.
Taylor said the Thursday night event will include performances by violinist Tony B, saxophonist Mosax, and DJ Slam. He said there is no cover charge, and the event is for those 21 and over.
“Enjoy some great entertainment while we vibe for victory and party with a purpose,” Taylor said.
