Costco Wholesale reported $93.9 billion in net sales for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, representing an 11.2% increase year over year. The warehouse retailer also reported higher quarterly earnings, strong digitally enabled sales growth, and continued expansion in its international markets.
For the 16-week fourth quarter ended August 30, 2026, net sales increased from $84.4 billion in the prior-year period.
Total quarterly revenue, including membership fees, reached $95.7 billion, compared with $86.2 billion a year earlier.
Costco generated $2.998 billion in quarterly net income, compared with $2.610 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025. Diluted earnings increased to $6.75 per share from $5.87.
The latest results included a nonrecurring benefit of $0.15 per diluted share related to refunds of tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, after accounting for Costco’s partial reinvestment of those refunds in additional member value.
The company reported 9.4% total comparable-sales growth during the quarter, including the effects of gasoline prices and foreign currency.
Excluding those factors, adjusted comparable sales increased 6.7%.
Costco’s U.S. business reported 10.7% comparable-sales growth, or 7.2% after adjusting for gasoline prices and foreign exchange.
Canada generated 5% comparable-sales growth, with adjusted comparable sales increasing 4.6%.
Other international markets recorded 7% comparable-sales growth, or 6.2% on an adjusted basis.
Costco also reported continued growth in its digitally enabled business, with comparable sales increasing 19.5% during the fourth quarter.
After adjusting for foreign exchange, digitally enabled comparable sales increased 19.8%.
The quarterly results contributed to another year of revenue and earnings growth for the membership-based retailer.
For the 52-week fiscal year ended August 30, 2026, Costco reported $297.2 billion in net sales, an increase of 10.1% from $269.9 billion in fiscal 2025.
Total annual revenue, including membership fees, reached $303.2 billion, compared with $275.2 billion a year earlier.
Costco generated $9.226 billion in annual net income, compared with $8.099 billion in the previous fiscal year.
Annual diluted earnings increased to $20.76 per share from $18.21.
The company’s operating income also improved during the year, rising to $11.69 billion from $10.38 billion.
For the fourth quarter alone, operating income increased to $3.80 billion, compared with $3.34 billion in the prior-year period.
Costco’s membership business remained an important source of revenue.
The company reported $1.85 billion in fourth-quarter membership fees, compared with $1.72 billion a year earlier.
For the full fiscal year, membership fee revenue increased to $5.91 billion from $5.32 billion.
Membership fees represent revenue generated through Costco’s annual subscription model and provide a recurring source of income alongside merchandise sales.
The retailer also reported continued comparable-sales growth across its geographic operations for the full year.
U.S. comparable sales increased 8.2%, or 6.6% after adjustments for gasoline prices and foreign exchange.
Canada recorded 7.8% comparable-sales growth, while adjusted comparable sales increased 6.7%.
Other international markets reported 9.8% comparable-sales growth, or 6.5% on an adjusted basis.
Across the entire business, annual comparable sales increased 8.4%, with adjusted comparable sales rising 6.6%.
Digitally enabled comparable sales increased 20.9% during fiscal 2026, or 20.7% after adjusting for foreign exchange.
Costco ended its fiscal year operating 939 warehouses worldwide, including 647 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 115 in Canada, 43 in Mexico, and 37 in Japan.
Its international presence also includes the United Kingdom, Korea, Australia, Taiwan, China, Spain, France, Sweden, Iceland, and New Zealand.
The company operates e-commerce websites across nine markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, and China.
Costco’s balance sheet reflected its continued earnings growth and operating cash generation.
The company reported $20.2 billion in cash and cash equivalents as of August 30, 2026, compared with $14.2 billion a year earlier.
Its total assets increased to $89 billion from $77.1 billion, while shareholders’ equity reached approximately $35.8 billion, up from $29.2 billion.
The combination of higher warehouse sales, growing membership revenue, and expanding digitally enabled sales contributed to Costco’s fiscal 2026 results.
