New Milford Area Rotary recently welcomed as guest speaker Lisa Pierce, currently residing in Virginia and a fellow Rotarian in the Lynchburg, Virginia, Rotary. Pierce was an Outbound Foreign Exchange Student from Montrose Area schools in the 1980s. Her exchange tour took her to Sweden for a year, followed by numerous employment opportunities with U.S. embassies in Europe. She is a Peace Corps volunteer veteran and a worldwide traveler, providing English as a Second Language skills. The Rotary Foreign Exchange Student program is a significant international program of Rotary and one which the New Milford Area Rotary has supported since 1960. Foreign exchange student candidates are being sought through all the school districts in Susquehanna County. Student candidates can contact their school’s guidance office for information.
