“Of the Rp320 trillion of the national tourism foreign exchange that year, Bali contributed Rp176 trillion, or equal to 55 percent,” Koster stated during the 2026 Bali and Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF) press conference here on Saturday.
He stated that foreign tourists’ visits to Bali in 2025 were at 7.05 million, equal to 45.8 percent of all 15.39 million foreign tourists visiting Indonesia that year.
According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the average spending per foreign tourist in Bali in 2025 was US$1,552.44, and the total amount of Rp176 trillion was obtained with the assumption that US$1 was equal to Rp16,500 then.
The governor said that Bali’s tourism foreign exchange contribution in 2025 reflected the continued strength of the tourism sector in Bali despite multiple issues that occurred last year.
Moreover, Koster stated that tourism contributed 66 percent to Bali’s economy, as it made significant contributions to other industries since many hotels and tourist attractions use locally made products.
The tourism sector helped drive Bali’s economic growth to 5.82 percent in 2025, the fifth with the highest economic growth and the top province without mining resources.
“Our per capita income is at Rp72 million, poverty rate is 1.42 percent—the lowest in Indonesia—and our unemployment level stood at 1.45 percent—also the lowest nationwide,” he remarked.
To ensure Bali continues to be the nation’s tourism powerhouse, Koster said that his administration will carry out measures to address regional issues on waste, infrastructure, and traffic congestion.
“Tourism helps farmers, fishermen, and craftsmen as its effects permeate deep to the society. It is what makes tourism-based province different with those relying on natural resources extraction,” Koster stated.
