Jodhpur: Jalore police arrested four suspects on Saturday in connection with a Rs 70 lakh robbery carried out under the guise of a forex trading meet in Jalore. The suspects, along with their accomplices, committed the crime at gunpoint but were arrested later that day.
Sayla police SHO Mahendra Singh said, Suresh Kumar, a resident of Dhanani, had filed a complaint on Oct2.Kumar, a forex trader, worked with Vinod Bhat from Nashik and Gaurav Bhardwaj from Narela, Delhi.
Kumar operated out of Ahmedabad, while Bhat and Bhardwaj managed operations from Dubai.
“About 10 days prior to the incident, Narendra Kumar from Sayla had contacted Suresh, Vinod, and Gaurav, requesting a meeting for trading purposes in Sayla. Following this, the three men arrived in Jalore on Sept 29,” said Singh.
Upon their arrival, Narendra picked them up but instead of taking them to the designated meeting place, he drove them to a location owned by one of the accused, Uday Singh, in Sayla. There, Narendra and 10-12 accomplices assaulted them at gunpoint.
The assailants forced Suresh to convert cryptocurrency into dollars using his mobile phone, transferring approximately Rs 70 lakh into the suspects’ accounts.
In addition, they stole Rs 50,000 from Suresh and hacked into the company’s system, gaining control of its trading panel.
The accused transferred another Rs 10 lakh and Rs 50,000 to one of their brother’s accounts. The victims were released around 8:30pm on Sept 29.
Following the report filed on Oct 2, police launched a manhunt for the suspects. Narendra Kumar, also known as Naresh, and Mukesh Kumar were arrested in Sayla, while Bhagesh Vasnik and Vishal Madgundi were arrested in Ahmedabad. The search for other individuals involved in the crime is underway.
According to police, Narendra had learnt forex trading from victim Suresh and had since trained over 25 people. Sixteen individuals were currently enrolled in his trading class in Sayla, which was scheduled to end on Sept 30. Suresh and his technical team had been called to provide training and expert lectures for the course.
