HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of acting more like a real estate broker than a leader focused on governance.

During a speech at a farmers’ protest in Kandukur, Maheshwaram constituency on Saturday, KTR levelled severe criticism at the Chief Minister, alleging that the focus on projects such as Musi River beautification is primarily for financial commissions rather than public welfare.

KTR stated that in the past ten months, Revanth Reddy’s government has achieved little in terms of welfare schemes or development projects, instead diverting attention to initiatives like the Musi River beautification, which reportedly has a budget of Rs 1.5 lakh crore. KTR questioned the intentions behind the project, alleging that it was a cover for securing personal financial benefits. He further claimed that while Revanth Reddy speaks of revitalising Musi, he has not addressed core issues like providing irrigation or farmer welfare.

The BRS leader also accused the government of failing to implement schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Aasara pensions, and loan waivers, leaving the agricultural community in a difficult position. According to KTR, while Revanth makes grand statements about large-scale projects, the necessary funds for crucial welfare schemes are not available. He went on to claim that Revanth is planning to use Musi’s beautification as an opportunity to obtain commissions, ignoring the actual needs of the people.

KTR also criticised the Congress leadership’s approach to the Pharma City project, noting that leaders such as Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and others had initially promised to cancel the project and return the land to farmers if elected. Instead, once in power, the Congress-led government rebranded it as “Fourth City” and continued, allegedly for personal gain. He alleged that political leaders manipulated the project’s alignment to protect their personal land, further reflecting the influence of financial interests.

KTR did not hold back in highlighting Revanth Reddy’s failures, including his promise to waive loans of up to Rs 2 lakh, which remains unfulfilled despite the Chief Minister claiming it would be done by August 15. KTR accused Revanth of making false promises even under oath, deceiving both the public and the gods to gain political mileage. He described Revanth’s actions as an attempt to consolidate his position at the expense of Telangana’s farmers and the general public.

KTR further mentioned that, rather than focusing on effective governance, the current administration is preoccupied with ensuring commissions. He pointed out that welfare promises, such as the increased pensions, Bathukamma saree distribution, and festival bonuses, have either not been implemented or were poorly managed. He criticised the lack of progress on Revanth’s “six guarantees” and housing promises, saying that instead of providing new housing, the government is demolishing existing structures, leaving people disappointed and angry.

The BRS Working President stated that Revanth Reddy’s focus on Musi’s beautification is nothing but a “lootification” scheme intended to benefit select individuals while neglecting the real developmental needs of Telangana. He asserted that, ultimately, Revanth’s actions reflect an intent to secure personal financial benefits, failing to uphold his responsibilities as Chief Minister and betraying the trust of the people.
